A message from our president

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the website of Saginaw Black Nurses Association (SBNA). SBNA has a strong and proud history with everlasting ties to the community.  We invite you to explore the site to learn about our history and the services that’s offered.

I look forward to working with our members, community and corporate partners, friends and future members as we improve the opportunities, education, stature and impact for nurses and future nurses within our community.  Because of our members’ commitment to excellence, the National Black Nurses Association is the premier association for b nurses in this country. I am proud of the many accomplishments and the positive changes we have made for our great association, our members and the communities we serve.

I am excited to think about the new possibilities in 2011. We have wonderful stories of success to be proud of and we persevered through a struggling economy. A lot has occurred during these historic times to improve the health of our communities. The National Black Nurses Association supports full implementation of the Affordable Care Act passed in the 111th Congress as well as Saginaw Black Nurses Association. It is without question, the strongest action to ensure health care for all Americans.

Let's not forget our future and mentor a student or new nurse. They are the next generation of nursing leaders and will carry our legacy for years to come. Let’s take every opportunity that we can to show our students and new nurses that we care about their professional and self development. This year, I am serving as mentor to students, younger nurses and mature nurses. This is the only way we can truly say we are cultivating the next generation of nursing leaders.
It’s going to be great year for SBNA!

Sincerely,
Archia D. Jackson, RN BA MSA
President

The Saginaw Black Nurses Association provides leadership to advance nursing practice, improve health care for all Americans, particularly the unserved and the underserved and shape health policy for the access and delivery of health care services. We are actively engaged in the many issues currently challenging the profession of nursing.
